East Asian Massage Styles
East Asian massage styles are widely known around the world. Their main distinguishing feature is the use of acupressure.
Shiatsu Massage
Shiatsu massage is an ancient Japanese massage where fingers are used to exert rhythmic pressure on specific parts of the body. The specific body parts are known as acupressure points and are believed to control the energy flow of the body and help to regain balance. Shiatsu is also important in managing stress and other health problems like insomnia, neck and back pain, and arthritis, and it is also known to improve digestion.
Glass Cupping Therapy
Glass cupping therapy is a type of Asian massage that focuses on specific parts of the body. Glass cupping therapy is done by properly trained personnel who places special cups on the skin. So as the cups cool, they make the skin raise, blood vessels relax, which makes one relax and have a feeling of wellbeing.
Thai Massage
Thai massage involves yoga, stretching, and other body movements. Thai massage is fully clothed. It involves rhythmic compressions that lower stress and lead to an increase in motion range. To encourage flexibility, Thai massage is done on the floor where body energies are improved and open flexibility.Thai massage is essential in low back pain, migraines, and muscle contractions.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is an Asian massage where the therapist concentrates on the deep tissue and tendons. Deep tissue massage is best known for reducing blood pressure, stress hormone levels, and heart rate. In the massage process, serotonin is released that is important in raising moods and encouraging relaxation.
